A West Monroe couple face felony drug charges after one of their children tested positive for methamphetamine.

Casey Eugene Rayner, 38, and Savannah Lynne McManus, 32, were arrested Thursday on warrants.

According to the request for the warrants, McManus gave birth in May to a baby that was addicted to methamphetamine.

Social Services became involved and offered family assistance including drug monitoring and daily parenting skills training to both parents for several months.

In August, Social Service agents noticed both parents appeared to be using drugs. The couple had trouble knowing what day it was an seem to be under the influence. Ordered drug tests has positive results for methamphetamines.

The children were remanded into foster care. The couple have five children together.

Shortly afterward, the caregiver noticed the 5-year-old girl was acting funny with unusual behavior. She kept asking for "calm-down medicine," a purple liquid medication that her mother had been giving her.

Social Services ordered a hair follicle drug test, which returned positive for methamphetamines almost a month after the children were removed.

Stay trashy West Monroe.

Meth wouldnt be a "calm down" medicine.

It is probably Zerbees or melotonin over the counter, which are purple-ish.

Meth in folicles could be years old, kid definitely exposed at some point.

But the story is misleading.
