Also, they get away with no OT pay. If you 16+, you can work as many hours as you want but you don't get any OT pay. People would be okay with working 60+ hour weeks. I guess it's not all that bad when you are 16 or 17 and looking for a summer job.

I had a neighbor who was mentally disabled at that time; he thought I had the best job in the world.

The Panic at Blue bayou FB page posted a pretty scary video

Apparently, DL officials decided to have the first act start prior to the gates even being opened. The gates were not opened on time so that park employees could move more $30 seats onto the field (the seats were being transferred from the water park area).

Skip to about 5:20 when the crowd breaks down the fence and comes crashing onto the field.

Students crashing through the fence

Facebook page

From the facebook page:

quote:

An insider who asked to remain anonymous (I checked his credentials and he's legit) told me the following:
1. The reason for the delay in opening the gates was 100% due to Blue Bayou's decision to hold off until the water park closed so they could get more chairs to bring in and sell for $30.
2. Blue Bayou was the one who made the call to have West Without start before the gates opened, creating a mob scene as people rushed the stage, which was also the pickup area for the $30 prepaid seat wristbands. (I'll have a video of the scene that occurred when the gates opened shortly.) ***There were children who were "trampled" or "injured" in the crowd.***
3. There was no good reason why general admission could not have begun at 6:30 as scheduled. As there was time before the bands would begin, it would have been far more orderly.
4. "They've invested into expanding the park's attractions... But they have put no thought or money into accommodating the increased volume of people that those expansions draw. That needs to happen or they need to cap attendance."
5. "Jumping into hosting outdoor concert events is simply not the same business as operating a waterpark that was developed over a 25 year period...They are a family-owned business, and I think they are well-meaning. However, they are terribly ignorant and irresponsible."

wait..Panic at the Disco is still around?

If they packed that many people into Blue Bayou and had them waiting in line for hours just for water, they might want to give some serious thought to going back out on tour.

Fans trampling over each other to get to the stage at Lolapalooza '95 when Rage Against the Machine was about to take the stage = scary.

This here is Boone's Farm.

Blue Bayou and Chuck E. Cheese...two wonderful childhood memories of mine that I will not get to share with my child.

"Talk 107.3 did a laughable job of covering this story this morning. You have GOT to listen to the recording of this! I just wish that Talk 107.3 would put up the official recording of this on their website so everyone can hear this in better quality.
Please let them know what you think about their opinions on this. I've got to tell you, I seriously laughed. I would love to quote them, but there were too many insulting and condescending comments by these -- what do you call them, journalists? Entertainers? -- Bill Profita and Kevin Gallagher, that I just don't have time or energy to quote them all. They aren't taking me OR any of you seriously.
P.S.: Hey, Bill, Kevin -- Guys, ridiculing and making personal insults on broadcast radio toward a concerned local mom makes you bullies, and that's not cool at all.
P.P.S.: Did you even look at all of the user-submitted content on this page? What about the screenshots of Panic at the Disco's own stage manager listing out MULTIPLE safety concerns and calling for the FIRING of their director of entertainment?"

Wouldn't TrashFest or Trashstock have been a more appropriate name for this orgy of cretins?

I'm going to go on record and blame West Without. They may be the douchiest BR original band.
