I am trying to follow along in the Texas Winter thread on storm2k and there's a few now suggesting potential winter weather in the next 24-36 hours? Is this really possible?
I have to go to the airport @ 4am Thursday...

Did a quick model check and the globals show some light freezing rain W and NW of DFW. Line looks to be about Wichita Falls for the transition. GFS sounding for 6 pm tomorrow has a shallow colder layer (above freezing throughout) with a thick warm layer above it. Cold air would need to be very aggressive to dip DWF under freezing at the surface and even then it'd be bridges of any concern imo.
NAM, a shorter range model, is a bit more to the east but just scraping the far NW of the metroplex.
Keep an eye on that thread and the DFW NWS office, but I wouldn't be too concerned as things stand.

Temps in mid 70's and lows in the 50's in Houston for next week just lots of rain. Thunderstorms for tomorrow and some may be severe. But nothing out of the ordinary.

DFW is close to a potential icy system tomorrow but it looks light rain/precip wise and too warm to be an issue.
Houston is in the warm done with us in Louisiana. 85 degrees in February when this time last month we were watching for an ice storm and record lows into the mid teens. One hell of a turnaround along the coast.

They are saying the NAM for OKC was 8 degrees off, and it looks like the forecasted temp is already off for DFW by 3.
I guess I'll just stay glued to the thread. I will be coming in from Collin County.

There's some damn good amateur mets and a few pro mets in that thread, definately follow it. They'll be providing better info than I can anyway.
There's enough risk to watch things pretty closely.
