She said “yes” when asked if she was a heroin junkie, and then she talked about the day last July when she and her boyfriend, Michael Vivian, traveled to Williamsport with another person to buy heroin.

They began doing the heroin immediately, and somewhere along interstate 80, on the way back to Snow Shoe, Jennings described her boyfriend as looking dead.

Ferguson said she didn’t want to call for help because there were warrants out for their arrest.

When they couldn’t revive him, they came up with a new plan -- to take Vivian to a nearby gas station and then call police, saying they picked Vivian up hitchhiking and he died, according to police. They believed they wouldn’t get in trouble because of the state good Samaritan law.

Police and medics quickly surmised it was a lie, and that Vivian had died earlier. They said Ferguson later confessed.
