All just delaying the inevitable. If they wouldn’t have shutdown cities and states, we would have already been done with the first wave. But we aren’t. California will be ducked once they try to fully reopen the state, as will others who haven’t been hit hard because of their “protective measures”.

California is being hit hard (in case numbers). It is also mostly open. Not sure what you mean?

From what I saw, California did another round of shutdowns of bars, dining, beaches, etc right? What is the point in delaying the inevitable? Unless the entire world self quarantined at the same time, there is no way to prevent the pandemic from hitting your state. Closing down just delays the inevitable instead of getting closer to a herd immunity. This virus is new and there is no reason to expect there will be a vaccine in the coming months. With the death rate being so low, it just seems counterproductive.

If there is no vaccine then there is likely no herd immunity. Especially with the info about antibodies.

Some counties they scaled back indoor dining and closed bars. I don't know if other municipalities closed beaches but all of our parks, lakes, beaches are open here. Traffic is the same as it ever was and everything feels back to normalize....But our numbers are on the rise.
Edit: The 26 counties he scaled back were ones with impacted hospitals. I am in one of those as well.

Stahp. There is not a case of somebody getting sick twice
They have tested positive twice but that is likely a test issue. They havent actually gotten infected twice

This is true. Our ICU has been at 100% capacity for the last 10 days, but newsom says hospitals are only 8% at capacity.
We rarely have more than 2 open beds but we always find space for codes and admits.
I worry more about the lack of staff than the lack of physical space.

That is true however, hospital admissions plummeted due to the lockdown.
My only point here is that those that get really sick from Covid are very seriously ill. I would not want to find myself in that situation.

Surge plans include that. There are ICU docs and nurses making an absolute killing right now going around the country filling positions in hotspots paying 2-3x normal rates.
One of my partner’s wives went to NYC and made more in 2 months than she did all last year.

I work in the highest paying part of the country...by a long shot. I am banking on travelers to save our asses. We on board our surge RNs on July 17th.
