It all good until you have a major repair.

I helped out my cousin financially a few times when his trucks needed major repairs.

He does better out of all things hauling hay to farmers or hauling oilfield equipment instead of OTR.

Like anything else when that engine goes it cost and you do not make money when the truck is in a shop.

I made $75k last year + bennies. Free health insurance etc. Stay in a decent hotel paid by employer. Home every weekend if I choose. Can make more staying out a few weeks. The first 2years suck bit after that a driver with a clean record has many jobs to choose from.

If I stayed out a month at a time $100k is doable.

What do you mean by this? Because you work more, or because you do routes that take you further from home?

You just stay loaded. Take your break wherever. Anticipate your break in the schedule, and time delivery accordingly.

not the same as needing to be back in Bunghole Mississippi every weekend.

Teams can also make great money if they are willing to drive anywhere and stay out for a month at a time

This. My little cousin is doing this and is working to get his own truck. He is only home a few days a month but he seems to love it.
