My beef with Catholics (other than the fact the church has covered up pedophilia) is the that, like the Baptist, you're either in the club (their specific church) or you're not. And if you're not, you aint making it to heaven
This is not the stance held by The Catholic Church. If you are going to rule in or out religions based on inaccurate preconceived notions without reading doctrine, then you are going to have a difficult time finding what you like, and you'll also not really be founded in anything.
The best advice I can give is read Rome, Sweet Home by Scott Hahn. Spoiler- he becomes Catholic in the end. Ignore that part, and read the story about his Faith journey with its twists and turns. It will teach you how to approach your journey, regardless of your or his ending.

I think you are stereotyping here. I sure haven't seen that in the Churches of Christ that I have gone to.
Perhaps. I probably should have specified Southern Baptist.

I didn't rule out Methodist, Presbyterian, Episcopalian.
Go ahead and rule these out too.
My advice for you, don't look at denominations just go to different churches till you find one you like.

Am I the only person who researched the shite out of theology and history regarding churches before deciding which ones to go to? I can't imagine going to churches like I'm kicking tires.

Thanks. I'll check that book out.

Yeah we're past that stage. The four exclamation marks gave away the fact you probably attended my hometown church.

That's actually the best advice I've heard yet. Problem solved. Thanks OT!

I won't even consider a church unless it has the latest a/v technology and melts my face with its house rock band.

I realize you just started this thread to troll, but for those out there actually interested, 1) read your Bible 2) find a Bible based church
Read the gospels and pay attention to Jesus' own words, then read Paul's letters, starting with Romans.

I think it is. Consider this:

I appreciate you thinking I'm attempting to troll, but I'm honestly interested. If I wanted to troll, it would have been much more subtle and you certainly wouldn't have picked up on it.
As for your comments on the merits of the discussion, I appreciate your contribution.

If you aren't willing to seek out truth veraciously enough to lead you to a place where God meets you where you are, then anything you read on here is worthless. I could give you a break down of these different denominations, but it comes down to Truth. You shouldn't pick a church or denomination because you like it. People like Scientology, Satanism and every cult that has come and gone. Truth is EVERYTHING.
Also, remember that the Universal Church, regardless of denomination, is made of imperfect humans. The worst thing you can do is make a blanket statement that all Southern Baptists and Catholics are crazy or terrible people. Bad things can still happen in the Church. It kills me that people on either side of denominations can look at the others and decide who gets into Heaven and who does not. Spoiler Alert: Not our decision.
Anyways, prayers for you as you seek out Truth. Read as much as you can and pray with it. That's what led me to where I am today.

Fair enough. I'm not very familiar with them.

Show me where what I wrote was inaccurate. You obviously don't want to accept the truth and that's not necessarily a bad thing.
For some people, such as yourself, ignorance is bliss.

I never wrote that. I have many baptist and catholic friends. Most all are good people. I'm referring to the issues inside the church, that regardless of what many want to believe, are MAJOR issues that should be dealt with before I could ever consider them hence why I'm looking elsewhere.
