, my Louisiana Dealers Exended Warranty has saved me more than 10k on repairs, including electronics and mechanical issues, maybe you should actually get a good warranty instead of fly-by-night company

I got a 1.8% loan and the extended warranty and gap insurance (which I wanted anyways). I had shopped interest rates with a few places before I walked in the door with the intent of financing with them instead of dealership. Best I could get with the several places I looked was around 4ish iirc(this was 5 years ago).

I get it...it wasn’t “free”. Obviously they have a reason on their end to offer that deal. I’m just saying it wasn’t a horrible deal for me either. Especially on a Jeep Unlimited where there usually is never a crazy amount of wiggle room on the price from what my husband and I have experienced with the Jeeps we have bought in the past.

I always negotiate like Im getting the warranty and overspray and whatever other crap.

Then when it comes down to shake hand on price i say never mind on that shite, deduct it and we have a deal.

At that point they are fricked.

There was no deal; they could have given you the lower rate and price from the start if they had chosen. You had a higher price then you knew, and they used the warranty to get to the number that you agreed upon. I'd guess that they still got a half point to a point for reserve on you.

The customers that dealerships love. Salesman will fight for you.

Bc the manufacturer doesn't give dealers huge discounts, aka rebates, off the Msrp of a Wrangler.

Your best bet might be to get the affiliate's deal on your next Jeep. There are groups that you can join that get affiliate pricing. Just search some wrangler forums.

but I only had to pay the $150 deductible to repair it.

Nah. You paid $150 plus the cost of the extended warranty (plus interest on the warranty if you financed that cost).

Bought a Grand Cherokee years ago and opted for the extended warranty. It turned out to be a very good investment after an oil pump, water pump x2, transmission, catalytic converter problem and 2 faulty window motors.

Yes

Do you mean a real extended warranty provided by the manufacturer?

Theyre not a bad deal if your dealer doesn't frick you. I've seen people pay $4400 for a warranty that costs the dealer ~$700.

If you got the warranty for $1,000 it wouldn't be a bad deal, but it's a horrible deal after the dealer makes his $3500 on it.

Whether in the front or back, the dealer is going to make his money.

Crazy, I have also bought 11 vehicles over the years, have also never purchased an extended warranty, and the total repairs on all 11 vehicles have been less than the cost of one extended warranty.

just dealt w American auto shield. What a nightmare !! engine light came on, power reduced. Brought it in for service... Transmission needed. Drove it out engine light on still. 1 month out of service. Had a rental car, warranty only picked up 4 days. There were so many other issues I wont waste your time

If I figured mine, I imagine it would be about the same story as yours.

Which is another HUGE reason I dont buy one. Instead of getting pissed about getting screwed, I just as soon not fight to get my vehicle repaired. Time is money. Knock on wood I’ve come out ahead anyway.

I bought a new Jeep last February which I intend to keep so I bought the FCA lifetime bumper to bumper warranty which also covers the Mopar 2 inch lift I added and it even says so specifically. My dealer wanted 5400.00 for but it's well known that Hays Jeep in Michigan sells these to anyone for $2745 each. To me, a factory warranty like this with 100.00 deductable if you drive a lot and plan on keeping it is a no brainier.

well yes extended warranties are always a rip off, but if your car has a CVT tranny what choice do you really have?

they grenade every 75k miles and you need to rebuild or replace them

This isn't true. I own a CVT and have nearly 110K miles and (knock wood) have had zero issues.
