I do believe so. They have the original F14 if I’m not mistaken, that’s an old bird.

Iran still reportedly has 25-30 AIM 54 pheonix missiles which could cause issues for B52s

Damn, they still have flying F-14s to launch them from?

reportedly 30 or so still capable with 10 or so remaining needing parts. they started with 80 and lost a couple is crashes and due to SAMs very very few were lost to air to air in fact their kill ration was reportedly somewhere around 35-1. Tomcats are maintenance heavy and the odds of all 30 being air ready at any given time are slim - heck carrier airwings with nearly 2 dozen almost always had 2-4 "down" at any given time.

It might but ECM has come a long way since the Phoenix and the AWG-9 radar was developed. Iran got those AWG-9 radar equipped Tomcats back in 1976-79. ~44 years ago. It's hard to keep up with parts that old. Remember all the F14s the US had in mothball were destroyed to keep Iran from getting parts. It's sad to see the cut up parts of 'cats at Davis-Mothan but they are there...along with several strategic bombers as well to meet the SALT treaty talks. Parts obsolescence will probably make several of those IRIAF Tomcats stay on the ground. Or at least incapable of using the Phoenix. Iran looks to have made mods to use a Russian R-73 (NATO Callsign Archer)missiles instead.

I know they were kind of a semi-failure in 1991,

Were they? or was ot the hype around the SCUDS and gas attacks, but nothing happened.

My parents' business actually makes a small part for the PATRIOT
