Just found out I have low iron in my blood. Even though my diet is pretty solid and I take a regular multi vitamin daily. Need additional bloodwork done. Am I dying? Is this pretty common?

You can buy iron pills in the vitamin section.

You can have low iron for a variety of reasons, one being a loss of blood.

Low iron is very common. It's called anemia.

Doubt you're dying but I'm not a doctor.

Eat more Iron Rich Foods

My wife had that when she was Pregnant. I was forced to eat steak 3 times a week. It was torture.

I had fibroid tumors that caused anemia.

I was operating on less than "1/2 of a tank" meaning my iron level was in the low to mid 20s. It should be over 40 at least for my age and gender.

Take an iron supplement. Eat more food that is high in iron and you'll probably get back to the level you need to be.

I've been feeling lethargic as frick for a long time. I'm hoping this will help. I just hope that there isn't something serious going on causing the blood loss

If you don't have blood in your stool, or a black tarry looking stool, you probably aren't losing blood.

So low iron can be caused even if I'm not losing blood?

Multiple things can cause this. google. most are cured by diet. unless you are slowly losing blood as said before.

Yeah - that's just a common cause - blood loss. That's why they're strict about iron levels when you donate blood.

Your diet could just be slightly low, overall, and you build up a deficiency over time. You could be taking NSAIDs a little too often. Could be genetic.

I pull a low iron blood test from time to time. I eat spinach and beef, though. I don't supplement.

Are you also anemic? If no, just eat more steak. If you are also anemic and over 45 I would ask the your primary doc about a colonoscopy.

I eat spinach raw, but cooked is supposed to be better in boosting your iron levels.

Chickpeas/Garbonzo/Hummus is good. Pumpkin seeds and sesame seeds are good, too.

I think turkey is better than chicken, if you have the choice. Oysters and clams are good. Chicken liver is good.
