Are you in Vail or Summit county? If so, call Steadman Clinic.

I'm not seeing the issue here.

The X-ray is probably a waste of time, as for the most likely diagnosis here, but it’s a prerequisite, a cursory test to rule out gross pathology. You probably will be set up for a MRI that will show soft tissue injuries, but getting that X-ray, is part of the work-up and approval process that is needed, and rightfully so.

Nah, all you need to do is grab one of those tiny hammers and start tapping on her knee. Report back with a report on her reactions.

We’re at urgent care and they want to do X-rays. Is that a waste of money?

Hope you didnt go to an average hospitol. I had a terrible experience with my knee injury. Hurt it pretty bad dirtbiking. I couldnt walk for a week. Finally went to the local hospital and requested an Mri. They wouldn't do one but they did an X-ray. The X ray didnt show anything. The doc looked at it. Pulled on it and told me if it were a torn acl it would "dislocate" and if anything else were torn that it was most likely just partially and would heal on its own. Told me to come back in a few months. I figured I was just being a puss so I pushed on through the pain for 3 months, at 6 months I stopped limping, 8 months I tried jogging and it got worse again. After a year I went back and requested an mri. They did it the second time, after a cat scan. Come to find out my Acl was complely gone. I had cartilage chipping , compression fracture on my tibia, a partially torn lcl/mcl and my meniscus was completely torn , all the way around. I was pretty P.O'ed at them and at myself for being so stubborn and not getting a second opinion at a specialist.

In my experience, urgent care docs charge you through the nose for a bunch of shite you don’t need. Are you all claiming this doesn’t happen in healthcare? And that every treatment option recommended should be accepted without a second thought? That’s part of the reason our system is so ludicrously expensive. I’m just asking if this is one of those situations or not. It seems fairly impossible that a bone was broken, and she’s not in an unbearable amount of pain.

Sure you can brace it and go straight to Ortho… 1st thing they will do is an X-ray. If you go to Urgent care 1st, she’ll get 2 x-rays unless you get a cd of the images
