Have a2012 Buick Reagal GS that’s blowing hot air out of the AC. Was told the compressor, Dryer and expansion valve need replacing. Called the place back and they said that the evaporator comes with the dryer. Told me I have to buy all parts or the warranty won’t be good. Question is, could I buy seperate parts or do I have to buy all parts and also compressor works cause it clicks on like it supposed to and off like supposed to. Any help is appreciated

Before you buy a compressor did you even run diagnostics on the flux capacitor?

You know the compressor has to do more than just click on and off in order to work, right?

Any time you replace a compressor, you should replace the orafice valve, or an expansion valve. Beyond that, no. You didn’t take it to a dealer, did you?

Probably the dryer as well, but I am only relating that to home AC stuff.

Yea you dont need to be second guessing anyone. Just pay to have it fixed.

Go to AutoZone and get a pressure gauge. Maybe it just needs some Freon with PAG oil added to stop the leak.

For under $50 the stop leak Freon comes with a low side gauge and instructions on how to use it.

If the compressor is shot, you prolly got metal slivers in the condenser.

Check out Rockauto.com to see what the kit costs to replace it all, if needed.

I’d change the dryer anytime a system is opened. As well as remove and flush the lines with a compressor or condenser change.

True, my thoughts are it went to a “change it all” shop rather than a dealer who can see specifically what might be wrong

I would put a can of freon in and see what compressor does before changing. Need to find the leak though.

Parts places now will not warranty a compressor without replacing the dryer and expansion valve. If your not at a dealer, they should be able to purchase a kit with the parts needed. You can buy separate parts yourself but they probably won’t put them in for you. You sure it’s not the condenser that comes with the dryer and not the evaporator?

very limited information. Many other problems can cause hot air such as overheating engine, bad coolant temp sensor, bad ac pressure switch, too much refrigerant, a bad fan, etc.

This is correct. Ask for a AC compressor kit, they are usually about 20-30 bucks. Like changing your engine oil but leaving old filter on it. Trash will suck right back in the system and burn it up.
