Yeah she does. Emerald. But emeralds don’t look very sexy small. A 2 carat is a nice diamond, but a 2 carat emerald looks pretty ehhh.

This is what she wants. FML.

Buy a diamond that is just below a milestone number, i.e. buy a 1.48 instead of a 1.5, could save you a large amount of money for a virtually identical ring

She’s dead set on it? Has she looked at other cuts? Future Mrs. Boosie thought she wanted emerald until we started trying them on. Round cut is what we went with and it’s a really nice ring. She gets a lot of compliments. Not having baguettes also helps accenatuate the size of the stone.

Yeah pretty fricking dead set.

The emeralds just look small unless you go big. Might just bite the bullet and go big emerald without the traps. Will go traps for anniversary.

The fricked up thing is that diamonds are so fricking overpriced it’s unbelievable. There is no real objective way to compare the prices of diamonds. Very unregulated industry.

I bought my wife's wedding set from a private seller off of eBay. Got a beautiful certified diamond set that was purchased but never used . I had the set appraised after I received it and the appraiser put retail at over 4 times what I paid.

I'm a cheap bastard...but she doesn't mind when people compliment her rings.

Go try on some emeralds and let her look at it. You’re right about the cut and the size with the emerald. She’ll know, but most people aren’t going to appreciate the cut and the clarity of the stone.

Guess it just depends on what’s important to her, but trying on the emeralds was the best thing we did

No problem, man. And congrats. It’s an exciting thing when you realize you’re ready to pull the trigger.

I bought my GF a half carat ring for $500 on a payment plan in college. She got emotional one night because she knew I was the one for her and I couldn’t afford a ring. I had already bought it and proposed on the spot at a friends house where I was hiding it. Fast forward 20 years later we have a 15 year old a 13 year old and an 8 year old. I won’t get into how much money I make now but let’s say we’re ok. She hasn’t mentioned upgrading that $500 ring she wears every day. I am blessed.

James Allen is a reputable site that partners with local jewelry stores. They’ll send any of their stock to a jeweler near you so you can look at it in person prior to buying. I ended up not using them, but felt comfortable with their process and products. Good luck....to your wallet

Let me guess — you bought a 1.5 F S1 with a bunch of trashy pave diamonds around it to make it look like a 3.5...and you went to Sandals because your an all inclusive guy. Right?

What club you belong to bro? Enlighten me.

Get a “used” ring dude. She’ll never know and you’ll save a shite ton.

Diamonds are intrinsically nearly worthless. Don’t fall for it.
