OT- Veterinarians question about spaying a dog

I have set up an appointment to get my 6 month old Shih Tzu spayed next week. She is 6 pounds and is fully grown. My girlfriend has convinced herself that the dog is in grave danger because of how small she is. How much danger is there actually in a surgery like this? Any tips on calming her?

What kind of red blooded American owns a fricking Shih Tzu? You should make it a double appointment and get neutered.

It's not dangerous. My 6 month old twelve pound puppy got spayed last week and she is already back to full strength

We have a 7lb dachshund that was spayed when she was 6 months old and was maybe 4 lbs.
