I also don't really understand how one guy held the door shut from multiple people pushing out?

He said him and another person held the door for 10-15 seconds so its possible.

i don't know i just don't really feel like it and it would really depend on the caliber of the two hostages.

Like if the other hostage was a complete dick or sex offender or something then i can't judge him for slitting his throat. But if it was like Saban or something I would totally judge him.

Im fairly certain though that i would never stand outside the door pushing it closed as people were begging and screaming for their life just on the other side.

Don't believe that happened.

This.

He didn't want the shooter to get through the door and mow down all the people he just escaped with.

And again, I'm sure he was drunk and not thinking clearly.

Its not like he held it down for 10 minutes while innocents were banging on the inside begging to be let out.

It sounds like to me that the door they closed didn't lead to "absolute safety."

Sounds like people were piling up and he thought the gunman was right behind them, so he shut the door. This allowed the pile up of people to clear out and then they released the door.

If that is the case it doesn't sound completely fricked up. I'm not sure we know if anyone died because of that 10-15 seconds (which may not even be 10-15 seconds due it being traumatic). Maybe it didn't help anything? Maybe a few died to save more? I have no idea.

Didn't the victims have to jump over a fence?

This.

Was it the best decision? No.

Was it the same as intentionally locking people in a burning building? No. His intent was pure I believe, just a bad choice from a drunk dude being chased by a gunman in a dark, loud night club.

Ya, he mentions a "pile up" behind him and then a fence, so I'm not really sure what the lay out is like at all.

Really hard to figure out the scenario due to his words. We can't even take for granted he held the door 10-15 seconds. I'm not even sure we can believe he held the door even though he says he did. Witnesses are unreliable.

I once saw a drunk driver smash a parked car and run. I described him as white but he was black, just not super dark.

He just waited for the alive people to become dead people and stop banging on the door. Someone should've cut this guy's throat and let the other people out

Listening again, he describes a second door "to his left" that people were jammed up. So it sounds like even if the door he closed was open they would have gone all of 5 feet or so.

If that's the case I'm not sure what he did made any real difference.

He literally says in the video that people were banging on the other side of the door.

I'm not going to judge the guy based on the decision he made, but once you hear people banging to get out, you let go of the fricking door.

Not for 10 minutes (as I said), more like 10 seconds, and they had no where to go...and what if opening the door led to not only the people inside getting killed, but the 10 people trapped on the other side of the door getting killed.

I'm also not saying it was the right choice, I'm just saying its not as black and white as you people want it to seem. The situation was fricked.

ETA:

Also, they didn't know if it was 1 shooter or 5 shooters. Maybe he thought bad people were banging on the door to get to them? It was dark, loud, and they were all drunk.

I'd wager he didn't even hold it for 10 seconds. What felt like 10 seconds in that panicked drunken state might have been less than 5 seconds.

I'm gonna go ahead and still lay 100% of the blame on the guy who shot over 50 people.
