I am absolutely Team Orca. However, the commentary on the video about the encounter near Gibraltar is superb.
Cue Jaws theme

This has been happening at an increasing rate since just before COVID. More and more they seem to have started thinking these boats are animals and attacking them in hopes of a buffet.

I wonder if it's some new tech these boats are carrying which is broadcasting in such a way (vibration patterns at certain decibels, for example) that causes the orcas to misinterpret that data as meaning the boat is potential prey?

Aquamen/Mer-people are sick of our shite and have enlisted their ocean beasts in their war on land dwellers. At least that’s what happened on Super Friends when I was a kid.

1. Orcas are the true masters of the oceans, they are highly intelligent and generally like limited interactions with people. Don’t ever frick with them.

2. They could be just ramming the boats to get them to turn on their motors or just for fun. One Orca says to another, I bet I can sink a boat, game on. Maybe they are like me and just don’t care for sailboats or they are emitting a sound they don’t like who knows. They kill great whites basically for sport so think about that.

3. They aren’t really attacking people they are just screwing around with sailboats, bizarre but we have done something to provoke this shite, somehow.

3. I am team Orca on this so all you stupid sailboats quit fricking with my buddies and fix your stupid boats so they aren’t bothering them

I went kayaking in the Puget Sound in the mid 90s. Just hugging the shore looking at the scenery, bald eagles etc and saw some orcas surface out in deeper water but not terribly far from us. I'll admit it made me feel pretty damn uneasy in a kayak

I laughed reading the last half of the article..

I was pleasantly surprised that article states there has been no record of an Orca Killing a human in the wild...

that was the part I laughed at... basically saying its a fad with the young males to have fun... and that they will eventually grow out of it..

So, not so different from human crime.

Teenage Orcas are apparently like teenage humans in that they’re looking for something to mess with. Where are their parents?

Teenagers of all species are assholes. No surprise.
