I got the monovision lens. I was very nervous I wouldn't like it. Had my right eye done (for intermediate vision) and my left eye will be done onto the 30th for distance vision. I see slightly better at a distance even with the intermediate lens than I do with my left contact which both contacts were prescribed for distance.

My eye surgeon said I may need glasses for distance and readers for reading but as I said, I'm seeing better at a distance with my new lens than I do with contacts. As for up close, I'm reading things without readers that I could never have read before. So win-win. I'm very happy with the results so far. Next Monday I'll know for sure if it was a good idea.

What's it like looking through the artificial lens? Do you notice it's "different?"

Things are brighter, whiter. If I cover my right eye (artificial lens) and look through my left (contact and cataract) I realize I was looking at the world through a yellow tinge. It's been all good so far. Your cataracts aren't going to get any better. I recommend the surgery.

What percentage of eyesight is impared according to the opthamologist? If he recommends implants( lens replacement)
Do it. At worst you eyeglass expenditure will consist of buying good sunglasses especially if you get the Toriq progressive lenses.

Thanks for the response. I just did my pre-surgical this morning and agreed to a similar setup. I may go from extremely near-sighted to far sighted, and I think that would be ok. I'm fine with having to wear readers. I've worn glasses since I was 22.
