OPSO: Mom forces entry to school bus, batters driver over pumpkin vandalism

A Monroe mom is facing multiple charges after she reportedly forced her way onto a school bus in pursuit of a child.

The mother was upset "because a student on her son's school bus poked holes in a baseball-sized pumpkin with a pencil."

According to a police report, Gabrielle C. Ward, age 28, chased down the school bus at the intersection of Willet Place Boulevard and Killoden Drive. When the bus stopped, the suspect pulled open the doors of the bus with her hands and boarded it.

Ward refused to exit the bus and allegedly pointed at one of the elementary school students and said, "I'm going to get him. He's the one I'm after."

Per the report, the suspect attempted to walk down the center aisle toward the student and was stopped by the driver.

Ward reportedly tried to force her way past the driver and was using loud, obscene language in the presence of the children — the bus was full at the time.

The bus driver told deputies she was in fear for her safety and the safety of the children. Ward said that she was tired of people bullying her child.

After arriving at OCC, Ward told deputies she stopped the bus, used obscene language and confronted the child but didn't say she was after him. Ward also said the driver let her on the bus, and she never tried to force her way past the driver. She also said she exited the bus when she was advised to leave.
