With that type of answer, I will disagree and bow out of this. You seem way too smart for me

Congrats man

Did yall get the increase to 12 weeks paternal leave for Dad's? We have joked that the birth rate is about to increase sitewide now.

My brother is a PCE for Exxon and has been for nearly 15 years.

He's a PhD, so I'm sure his pay is higher because of that. I'd guess he's pushing $200K by now, but I've never asked him.

Fellas, what is your retirement plans like, i.e., do y’all have a defined pension plan and/or 401k match?

No kidding

Thing is, the jaded needle hits the blue collar operators hard. A PetE or ChemE are far far higher on the totem pole any way they cut it.

A quality 10 year engineer is usually on the level of being the boss of a 10 year operator.

I don't have some sort of ignorant view of what engineers are though.

The majority are weird as frick though.

I've seen several +25 year guys with 1.5MM and above, most I have personally seen is over 4MM. Doesn't count their pensions which vary, but lump sums are usually 500k plus. Also have SS I guess.

I'm an operator and we make more than most engineers, but not by much. We also work nights, weekends and holidays when engineers are home with their families.

I’d say roughly same pay, but way less hours worked for engineer. 5yr engineer easily makes over $100k if you are decent and aren’t weird with 40hr weeks no OT.

Ceiling for an engineer is a lot higher though IMO

Honestly, it’s the gloating about sitting on their arse and collecting a paycheck while the educated group (ie engineers) have to actually work.

Is it all of them? Of course not, but it is a notable group.

Everyone is hardworking when you ask them though. Place is lucky to hold together because of them.
