A seatbelt would cause the kid’s faces to be catapulted into the steel bar that makes up the top of the seat in front of them

Your idea would kill more kids

I was having a discussion with a man who claimed he worked for a company that built school busses.

The bus yesterday came off its frame by design. The bolts snap off,its ment to absorb shock, during impact.

From what he told me busses with seat belts, are more dangerous than a bus with none. The seats are a built in crash pad. Busses are designed for safety.

I never said it was a waste of money. I said we would be better off spending the money where we could save more lives.

Suicide prevention.
School security.
Health screenings.

A school bus is NEVER supposed to go,occer 55. Many are now equipped with GPS and their speed can be checked from the office.

I remember every little bump we hit we all flew up in the air while our bus driver laughed and said woooooo!

School bus fatalities are very very rare. I am not against seat belts but it would be an enormous expense and how many kids would actually belt up?

There are much better ways to spend money and save the lives of a lot more kids.

Expense? Are you fricking kidding me? Mandating seatbelts would not cost shite.

And my kids as well as all the kids I know automatically put their seatbelt on when in my vehicle. Why would they not put them on in a bus?

I've been in a stopped school bus that was hit by a pickup going 40. The bus only lurched forward then back and lost some paint.

Yeah you’re full of shite.

Might be more effective to have the seats face the back than to install seat belts.

Almost half a million buses in the US. Estimated cost is over 5,000 per bus. I am not good at math but that seems like it would indeed cost shite.

Now if we are going to spend that kind of money to possibly save six lives a year, let's go all in and also install front and side airbags in every seat. Side Collison avoidance equipment, antilock brakes, automatic braking,
