People knocking this don't know how hard it is to get Federal funding for expanding the interstate system for a specific area. Most cities that stay ahead of the infrastructure curb often have to privatize the funding, making it a toll road. I wonder if the expansion will be in the form of a loop or just a bypass route north of Baton Rouge.

They already do.

If you don't enforce their laws (obamacare for one) they tighten the financial noose a little tighter

The problem is....not one person, professional, let alone politician is EVER held accountable for their idiotic decisions ! Example....when the I-10 bridge and "thru-roads" were designed/built....WHO were the MORONS that were responsible for the clusterf^%$ of a design ? Did any of them lose their jobs/get publicly disgraced or even remotely "called out" ???????????? WHO were these morons/crooks/insane people ?????

Welcome to the world of Civil Engineering and politics. I am not a fan of the design either, but when they designed the I-10 bridge they were trying to affect as many people as possible. The problem is not the bridge, it's the absence of a bypass to allow through traffic around Baton Rouge.

People are already going to have to realize the effect on I-12. It still surprises me the amount of traffic on I-12 now; if you add a bypass north of Baton Rouge (face value a cheaper option) and tie in I-12&I-10 you will see a surge in traffic on I-55 and I-12 from New Orleans to west-bound traffic. A loop will be much more expensive and much more disruptive initially, but might pay dividends in savings later.
