I’ve given my kids a nice life, but my goal is to teach them how to make the life they want, not to make it for them.

Easier? I dont know that my life could have gotten easier. We were middle income, never had to worry about food or other essentials. Always had a home and parents that loved us. Not alot extra, but that is a pretty easy life.

We are a lot better off financially, but we are hopefully doing the same for our kids, providing a home where they are loved, disciplined, and cared for....but a place they know is their home. Hell, if it all went to shite today, I could go back to my childhood home and be cared for just as when I was a kid.

I think my kids are more educated on opportunities that exist in this world. I am kinda sad that we spend so much time talking about success, which will ultimately mean they probably neve live in Alexandria as their home. But they need to know what the world holds.

Yes, indirectly/potentially.
One potential issue with making a better life for your kids is it can lead to dependency.
Two of our goals was to instill love and self-reliance.
But people are individuals and given the same upbringing can turn out very different.

It was around the time my oldest son turned 14 that I realized I wasn’t responsible for making his path at all. That’s up to him. He’s not a product or project.

It was a great relief for both of us.

What’s funny is when you actually achieve this goal and do make life easier for your kids, the people who haven’t make fun of you and your kids.
