The fighting took place near Sharpsburg.

It also took place near the Antietam.

The same applies to both the battles at Manassas Junction, which yankees call Bull Run.

Which took place closer to Bull Run than it did to Manassas Junction.

Yankees can't seem to name a battle correctly.

I guess we need to throw out battle names like the Somme then. It's 152 miles long and only the bloodiest battle in the history of Great Britain. Or how about Masurian Lakes?

which part? The creek is over 40 miles long. Did it take place over the entire forty miles? No. It took place near Sharpsburg.

Again which part of the creek? Over the 33 miles of the creek or near Manassas Junction?

Should we call the Battle of Trenton the Battle of Delaware because it was close to the Delaware River?

Perhaps the Battle of Saratoga should be renamed the Battle of Hudson.

What about the Battle of the Bulge?
It’s not named after a place or a River.
History is history, there it isn’t a science.

The small hamlet of Groveton was nearer to where the battle was fought than Manassas Junction if we're being completely accurate, but that's neither here nor there. The battle was fought along Bull Run Creek.

I don't see you raising any fuss about both sides calling it the Battle of Chickamauga Creek even though the city of Chattanooga was literally right there.

And what about the First and Second Battle of the Marne? The Battle of the Somme? The Battle of Masurian Lakes? Why is it that the British call it the Third Battle of Ypres while the Canadians call it the Battle of Passchendaele?

Ok. So yankees and europeans don't know how to name battles.

Doesn't seem like too many people know how to name battles. Why is it called the Battle of Guadalcanal and not the Battle of Henderson Field? Most of the action on that island was relegated to a small patch of the island and yet it's named after the entire island. Why is it called the Battle of Midway when the vast majority of the battle was fought hundreds of miles from the atoll? Why is it called the Battle of the Coral Sea? The sea itself is tens of thousands of square miles wide and yet the battle itself took place in a small chunk of it. Why not call it the Battle of Tagula since that was the nearest chunk of land to where the fleets faced off against each other?
