What’s to say it hasn’t been here for a few weeks or few months already and nothing is going to happen because of the Delta surge in August.
And it’s spreading through unvaccinated and vaccinated asymptotic individuals or showing up as mild cold symptoms.
Let’s face it COVID is becoming just another coronavirus from the cold family. It will mutate every so often and will only severely affect certain people with certain genetic traits while the rest of us will be fine with just a headache, the sniffles and no taste or smell.

It has likely been here for weeks. OG covid was here long before 2020 Mardi Gras as well.
