I wondered why they were closing. I do know that Miskelley is coming to BR in front of Costco, just down Airline from Olindes.

We went in a week or so ago, mainly because we were passing by, just to look around.

It’s the same tacky overpriced furniture they’ve always had. What I found particularly amusing was the rug section. A permanent 70% mural on the wall.... But now they’re 80% off!!! yet they’re overpriced by like 300%

Good riddance.

They’ve been in business for over 100 years man!!!

The family sold because they were in their fourth generation and had to pay taxes, etc.

Olinde's commercial montage 1988-2019

quote:

Here is a commercial montage from Olinde's Furniture of South Louisiana from 1988-2019. All copyrights acknowledged. Olinde's started in 1865 in New Roads, LA and later established larger furniture stores in Baton Rouge, Opelousas, and Lafayette. Following Labor Day 2019, the stores will close as they have since been sold to Ashley Furniture. After some renovations, the stores will reopen as Ashley Furniture showrooms. As of the closing, the store had two outlets--one in Baton Rouge, one in Lafayette, and one clearance outlet in Baton Rouge at the Miller View Shopping Center. The jingle of the commercials is quite memorable: O-O-O-Olinde's!

We found a rug we liked when we were in there earlier this week. Figured it would be a great deal being as it was advertised for 80% off.

It was 80% off of $22,000

Could have been 95% off and I still wouldn’t have bought it

This is their approach. Everything is grossly overpriced...but they are marking it down significantly.

In the end, if you negotiate, you'll probably get a decent deal...but nothing earthshattering.

This closing sale has been going for a long time. Their inventory must have been almost limitless.

Exactly. There’s nothing special about them either. It’s hilarious.
