Thanks douchesucks, as a result of your stupidity, i accidentally read Twitter "reactions," which somehow made me hate some other people worse than your sorry bitch asses. Way to give the loons something to trumpet about.
Eta: i assume by the downvotes, some of you misread this post. Whatever. Vandals are morons at best. Twitter is cesspool. Not sure what's even debatable about those two premises.

or those that aren't aware of his story, it's well worth your time to look it up.
Here's a good read about some more similar history.
Stanley Nelson, a former editor of the Concordia Sentinel, did a series of articles, and started investigating Ferriday shoe shop owner Frank Morris' murder in the mid-2000's.
Most of the linked info is about his articles.
The Civil Rights Cold Case Project
Gives a lot of insight into what happened to three black men, Frank Morris, George Metcalfe and Wharlest Jackson, in the 60's.
Here's the link to Nelson book that about this crazy period of what is local history for some of us.
Devils Walking: Klan Murders along the Mississippi in the 1960s on Amazon
After I started reading the Sentinel articles, I called my mom about it, and found out the klan tried to recruit my dad, and my uncle when they started working at the Natchez Mill. Nearly all of the families we knew in Vidalia had a dad that worked at either IP's mill, or Armstrong Tire plant in Natchez.
The Concordia Parish Sheriff from this period went to jail for unrelated crimes, along with one of his deputies. I vaguely remember hearing my parents discuss gambling and a few other illegal activities, but the sheriff was taking monthly bribes from the bars that ran the gambling, and prostitution businesses. He lied in court about it, was charged with perjury, then jury tampering and obstruction of justice. His deputy went to jail for racketeering, and violating a prisoner's civil rights. The prisoner was beaten to death while in the parish jail.
Concordia was basically run like a third world country. It must have been a lot like Joe Don Baker's hometown in the first Walking Tall movie.

The kids now under 30...especially around 18 are the dumbest generation in American history by a light year. They have been exposed to so much utter stupidity that they possess no ability to be "moved" or "shocked" by anything they see or experience. Social media and the internet which in the 90's was viewed a a great tool has devolved into the main way of communication for far too many people, especially those just getting out in the world. Because of that, the majority of their social interactions occur online... not in the real world so they experience the REALITY of the world, especially rejection and any negative effects of their actions. Today, they just ignore a person, block them, etc. without having any true understanding of how the real world works, thus piss poor social skills and common decency and common sense are lacking in an epic way.

Yep...our country is fricked. Even Alex's GND can't save us from the fricktards of her generation and the generation younger than them.

I don't get the outrage.
Haven't people been vandalizing statues and memorials in the south for several years now?
They are usually lauded as heroes.
What's the big deal here?

Also, I would like to know the overlap here between "It's just a sign!" and "Statues are our history!"
That Venn diagram is a perfect circle

The big deal is Emmitt Till is really not someone to mock.
That poor kid was just a boy when he was kidnapped from his uncle's house, beaten, tortured, and then killed by a bunch of fricking animals.
He was 14 years old. The woman whose allegation led to that brutality admitted the story was made up a few years back.
Those dumb pricks from Ole Miss show no class whatsoever essentially pissing on that poor kid's grave.

I believe the numbers suggest they've never been more intelligent, but they absolutely lack street sense.

If you think Emmitt Till and a Civil War general are on the same side of history, you're deluded.
Vandalism is wrong regardless, don't get me mixed up, but this notion that a sign dedicated to Till is no different than one for Robert E Lee takes a special level of ignorance to conclude.

Lives aren't ruined - just look how many in this thread are willing to act like it's just your run of the mill prank.

It is bad enough to think that is funny. It is tremendously stupid to post that on social media. What did that idiot think would be the reaction to posting that on instagram?
3 morons just ruined their lives.
