ALBANY, LA (WAFB) - Deputies are seeking the public's help finding a missing toddler from Albany.
Officials with the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office say the toddler was reported missing Friday afternoon. Just after 12 p.m., deputies were called out to Jack Perry Road just north of Albany to help find a 3-year-old child who reportedly wandered off from his home.
The child was last seen wearing cutoff blue jeans and a white shirt.
"Several agencies are assisting in this effort. We are still gathering information. Our focus now is on finding Sheldon and bringing him home," said Sheriff Jason Ard.
Anyone with information should contact LPSO at 225-686-2241 x1 or call Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867.LINK

Before kids, I would've said "how the hell does a 3-year old just wander away from home" but now that my child is getting around pretty good, he has since learned to open the door and walk outside.
One day my wife and I were in the living room when he walked away from us to go play in the kitchen. Next Thing we know the alarm chime beeps and we both just look at each other and are like "wtf". I got up to go check on things and the door is wide open and he was walking around the back yard.
Scared the living shite out of us and he got a little whipping as well. Now we lock the deadbolt at all times. Let see his arse figure that shite out.
That said, I sure hope this kid is found. I can't imagine what his parents are going through.

From what I've been told he's been missing for a couple hours. I think a creek is near that area. I've got my grandsons here. Once my daughter gets them I'm gonna ride up and see if they need help with the search. My friend leaves near there , he said they have helicopters searching also. This is terrible

Check the LPSO Facebook page first. Right now it says they're turning people away bc they have K9 units trying to track him. Additional people would probably hinder that search.

My kid did this the other day. We were doing Christmas decorations and I guess the garage door didn't close. He went out the garage and hit the doorbell. I opened the door and saw his foot as he was rounding the corner running back into the garage.
I didn't know whether to laugh because he pranked us or what, he's only 3.

This is the main reason I've got a wooden fence around my entire back yard. My youngest grandson is four. Scares the hell out of me. That fence is one of my best investments

Just saw a NOLA.com article with more info on this story. Not good news ...
- The child was missing for approximately five hours and found about a mile from his home.
- He had been playing in his backyard, unsupervised. So the mother had let him go outside in 50 degree weather in shorts and a t-shirt.
- This is the THIRD time this WEEK that LPSO has been called out to look for this kid. Once he was found in a neighbor's house, another time in the neighborhood and a mile away yesterday.
- The child is now in state custody.
- The parents have both been arrested for child abandonment and drug charges.
I hope this kid is adopted out to a family who wants a child and will care for him.
