They are a terrible idea for Louisiana. Public schools have closed all over the state, but charters keep popping up. None of the lawmakers in Louisiana care about public schools, because their kids don't go to them.

Yet they use hundreds of millions of dollars in profits to buy up hospitals and providers to expand their empire. Small providers can’t compete with such a large entity that doesn’t pay taxes.

South Lafourche was once Chouest High and not for academic reasons but for athletics. If you basketball folks remember the 1996-1999 years, it was the Chouest show.
