I’ve always wondered are fat people less likely to die from a gut shot due to more non vital fat cushion to pass through before it hits vitals thus slowing the bullet down?
Particularly from smaller pistol rounds?

I'm not going to shame anyone who's legally carrying or shooting a gun. With all the carjackings and random violence going down, we need more people like that. I'm really starting to think about carrying a gun myself.
I just wish open carry were less stigmatized because I can't hit jack shite with the kind of pistol that's easily concealed.

The issue I have with open carry is the only ppl I see open carry are the mentally unstable who look as if they didn't grew up with firearms or respect the gun.
It just makes ppl uncomfortable.
I'm pro gun, I'm a BAW from the south, but I'm not a fan of open carry and do support the argument that the in your face gun types are usually the weakest and most unstable.

Actually yes, there's been a lot of cases where someone's fat has saved them from a round to a vital organ. I don't think a smaller caliber makes a difference though, moreso luck. I'd think a .22 round could do just as much or even more damage than a 9mm or .38 since they tend to bounce around inside bodies.
I've seen fat saving a gunshot victim firsthand a couple times, fellow LEO plenty as well
