Several cases out there of police doing no knock raids and the home owners trying to defend themselves kill the cop thinking it was some criminal breaking into the home.
Generally the home owner is arrested...

No, he was assaulted b/c he was misidentified by a witness. Him being black has nothing to do with this other than the fact that the witness fingered the wrong black man.
While we cannot get into the mind of the charging cop, let's not pretend like Blake's race could have something to do with it.
I mean, I don't know what the hell this cop could have been thinking, it was just such an over the top reaction period.

Who doesn't know who the frick James Blake is?! I don't even watch a lot of tennis and I know who he is.

Perhaps, but the fact that it goes that far is still unacceptable.
Considering how much money they have to pay and everything they have to go through to clear the name. The life in that area is probably ruined as well.

I am referring to the fact that I wonder if a well dressed white male would get tackled to the ground and held down by several officers in the same situation...
Once again, we are talking about credit card fraud, not a man brandishing a weapon.

I wouldn't say that, I think that is a bit irrational.

I'm not saying this is why he was, but I am sure as heck struggling to come up with another plausible explanation. Especially when four of the cops buddies decided to pile on.

yea the posts in this thread so far are utterly disappointing and i'm not surprised.

Cop should be charged with assault, just like any other person would be if they attacked someone on the street.

This guy was a star athlete, he was more than capable of resisting arrest without a weapon. If you see someone who is about to resist arrest then you do everything necessary to take them down. Simple as that.

how the frick is it dishonest? it's very plausible and could definitely be argued in a scenario such as this. i know you won't admit it or recognize it but there are black people who get fricked over by white law enforcement officers every day because of their skin color.

Statements like this are so stupid. They show you have a 100% chance of being an ignorant douchebag.
on topic. This kind of behavior is uncalled for but is a product of our society. If we, as a society behaved more responsibly, it would be reflected in police behavior.

Yeah I'm usually very skeptical of someone pulling the race card, but in this case it's pretty clear that either the "witness" made the mistake because he was a black man, or the cops were just profiling and fabricated the witness claim- the latter being more likely imo.
