I tried to give it as much time as possible

12 hours after being posted to WWE's YouTube page... Brock Lesnar's surprise return has gotten 1.9 million views

Becky Lynch's surprise return on WWE's YouTube page has gotten only 833,000 views in a comparable 14 hours to another return this weekend.

NXT TakeOver 36 comes from the Capitol Wrestling Center inside of the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Fla.

NXT Championship Match
Karrion Kross (c) vs. Samoa Joe

NXT United Kingdom Championship Match
WALTER (c) vs. Ilja Dragunov

NXT Women's Championship Match
Raquel Gonzalez (c) vs. Dakota Kai

2-out-of-3 Falls Match | Fall 1: standard match - Fall 2: street fight - Fall 3 (if necessary): cage match
Adam Cole vs. Kyle O'Reilly

Million Dollar Championship Match | if Knight wins - Ted DiBiase becomes his butler
L.A. Knight (c) vs. Cameron Grimes

Pre-Show Match
Ridge Holland vs. Trey Baxter

Will she make Samoa Joe fall & pray tonight?

Alot of people were stoked on Brock returning last night in the SummerSlam thread, but how "back" is he really? I have a feeling it may of been just to set up that sweet Saudi blood money match.

Either way, WWE just threw in the towel on Raw last night and moved all of their chips to Smackdown.

the issue is that... like I said last night... Brock Lesnar (who will only give you like 4 matches a year) is the only person in WWE with the credentials to be perceived as a viable threat to Reigns' title reign

that's the problem with "protect Roman at all costs"... you don't have a litany of viable challengers ready to go

you need multiple full timers with the wins on hand to be viable challengers... and yet somehow it seems like Raw is sticking with Goldberg and Smackdown brought back in the ultimate part-timer Brock Lesnar to challenge for the title

There are significantly more videos of Becky’s and Brock’s return and they got more mainstream attention too. ESPN, CBS Sports, Fox, Forbes, etc.

AEW’s official YouTube Page has under 2.5 million subscribers. WWE’s page has over 80 million. For comparison, TNA has 4.2 million, RoH has 650k and NJPW has under 500k.

They aren’t in WWE’s league. I get that you want competition to WWE, I do. A rising tide raises all boats. I want someone who can legitimately compete with them and push them the way WCW did in the late 90s. However, AEW is not that place. They are late day WCW catering to a niche market with SJW fingerprints on the product.

But anyways, solid cardtonight.

CM Punk's return got plenty of mainstream attention

of WWE's 80M YouTube subscribers... 2.1M went to WWE's YouTube page to see the video of Brock's return in 14 hours

2.5M went to AEW's to watch Punk's return in 14 hours

that's an apples to apples, 1v1 comparison

Punks return was more talked about and popular than Brock’s. I didn’t see one mention of Brock returning by the mainstream Twitters that didn’t also elude to Punk returning.

And Becky’s return was clouded by the awful match/squash of Bianca that did no one any good.

let's also remember that tonight very well could be Adam Cole's final match in NXT as his reported contract extension runs out after this show

whether WWE has gotten him to re-sign with them and will move up to the main roster... or he decides to jump ship and could show up in AEW as soon as this Wednesday night on Dynamite (remember... when a contract expires... it's done... no no-compete clause is in play)

Hello, all fellow human beings. Seems like wrasslin' had a big weekend all around.

I'm pretty sure I made all my picks correctly last night, especially the ones that were incorrectly typed.

Let's hope she doesn't end up floating in that huge plastic island in the Pacific once Kross discards her.

Yeah...that was pretty bad, in my opinion. Hope they salvage a decent story build from it.

oh yeah... picks for tonight

Samoa Joe via submission/referee stoppage
Ilja Dragunov via pin
Raquel Gonzalez via pin
Kyle O'Reilly wins 2-1 via pin in the cage
Cameron Grimes via pin
Ridge Holland via pin

I expect this to be a cracking good show... the current version of NXT's last stand

that was the thing most people were talking about today... how badly WWE botched Becky's return by squashing Bianca... both characters were actively damaged by what played out in the ring

and that WWE may have done even more damage to its relationship to the black community b/c in that realm what happened to Bianca last night was only the female version of Kofi vs. Brock

no matter what Lashley does as WWE Champion

I was listening to a podcast a few weeks ago that told me that was a hoax. Who should I trust?

I thought Bianca had squashed her character by being annoying and hard to listen to.

A. I'm never gonna care about this, ever, and 2. The WWE Champion kinda seems like a black guy. Why did they have him beat a poor Jew whose dad's uncle's cousin's sister's cousin was probably a Holocaust survivor? And why can't they portray Paul Heyman as a nice guy? They gotta portray him as a slimy, annoying manager? And why is Alexa a crazy woman who talks to dolls? Am I the only one who cares about the WWE's relationship with the Jewish community??? I only wish other people could care as much as me!

I do see where the damage could be done.

To me, you can dislike the Bianca character but physically she’s a legitimate badass. To have her jobbing to Lynch after the work you’ve done to make her a respected wrestler is just lazy. And on one of your grand slam shows at that. Just all around a puzzling decision and I don’t know how you make up for it moving forward in the story process.

I do think it would've been better had Becky landed a few more moves to make the match a little more believable. I'm not concerned about the squashing. They'll make a good story out of it. Or they won't. We'll see.

I'm not sure. Maybe it is a hoax, but, if it isn't, it's probably not the citizens of the USA's fault.

I forget who said it in the thread last night... but I agreed that all they had to do to not erase like 6 months of build in Bianca in 1 fell swoop was keep Carmella in the match and have Carmella eat the fall in like 10 seconds

ETA: don't even have Becky & Bianca touch... have Carmella jump Bianca from behind but put her right into a perfect position for Becky to hit the Rock Bottom... sorry... Man-Handle Slam (since no one's expecting a new finisher) for the win

some of the people that watched the video WWE posted of Nikki Cross arriving to Allegiant Stadium were like "did they film that right after they told her not only she was dropping the title but they were going a complete other way from now on that might not involve her"
