Pay the replacements and anyone that wants to stay 15-20% more. Union talk will end.
So do what the union would want?

but it genuinely surprises me how antagonistic this board is towards private sector unions.
It’s because we’ve had to work with em.

Good for them maybe they will get more money.. Louisiana has been short changing nurses for years

I'm wondering just how awful an employer they have to be for 75% of the nurses to want a union. Especially in a field where you can always find another job.
Most nurses these days are non traditional trash monsters who got free community college. What do you think they support? First order of business is a nice pay raise.

People who are being treated fairly usually don’t think about forming a union. Especially down in Louisiana. Maybe University brought it on themselves.

He’s not entirely wrong. The nurses pushing for unionization aren’t of the specialized type. These are the Delgado associates type whose responsibilities don’t really go beyond taking vitals and inserting an IV.

Thanks and we don’t get along or agree on much

This thread will make it easy to spot the people in healthcare vs.those who aren't.
I’m an offshore baw with an old set of truck nuts, but I support anyone that wants to unionize in the current climate. Wages aren’t keeping up with COL and inflation increases. And if the response by leadership is to insource temp support at a higher cost and less vetting, well then just frick those assholes.

Yes we do, you’ve just fallen victim to TDS

I’m not for unions at all and agree with this.

So, 90% of this one hospital's nurses turn out to vote. 82% vote yes.
82-90% of UMC nurses are trash monsters with no more than free community college education. Yes?

The hospital my wife works at, is in the process of importing nurses from Eastern European countries.
And which hospital, specifically, is this?

Bet there’s plenty as well who were happy student loans got washed.
It’s funny for those who haven’t been to a college in years not understanding who is attending.

You misread that, but I would say that yes, probably only 20% or so of nurses employed at any given hospital have a specialization. Most are frontline, entry level, check your vitals and bring you juice while waiting on the doctor.

Had no idea you were 23 and such a recent grad.
My squid graduated from UA in May. Know a little about that place on The Hill beyond that, though. Not sure what strip mall colleges you're used to dealing with in life so I can't comment there, or the care of a Medicaid relative in a bad nursing home.
