For an Olympic distance? I've banged the wife the same night after her race. Now half and full Ironman are slightly different. I give her a 36 hour window to recover.

This.
They train hard for this daily.
I would imagine no worse than any person who hit it really hard at the gym. A triathlon would feel the same to a world class triathlete. Barring an injury or a frick up in her regiment. Like getting severely dehydrated or Rhabdo

After my races all I want is a burger and a nap.

So, the first thought that occurred to me was how long it would take for a person who ran a triathlon to recover enough to have sexual intercourse. What do you think the recovery period is?
Why?
Did her mouth run a triathlon too?

You do realize you don't only run in a triathlon.
It is a race, but it's not just running.
Saying running a triathlon is equivalent to saying hey, let's play rock...when you are referring to rock, paper, scissors.
