It really is quite horrible in that part of the country. I would recommend never moving there or for any reason. KKK rallies every weekend, people sacrificing pets, dead economy, etc.

Darth lives in Florence so the majority of this is true. You forgot the constant mud checks thought

Florence isn't so bad. It isn't like he's in Killen or Green Hill.

He was scared to meet me at Sonic and I’m pretty sure he said he didn’t want to / physically was incapable of making the drive from Florence.

I don't remember it that way.

He works/travels for CAT

He could easily drive from Florence to HSV.

If he does live in Florence I'd buy him a drink some Saturday afternoon.

Pickwick should be able to handle more... There was a couple days last year they were dumping 700,000 cubic feet per second. Them bass gonna get hot soon. This 20 degree weather liable to screw up the shad... Maybe get a little heat afterwords and it will be a free for all gorging by them big llamas Mamas.

I know my house won't

Noah would have to come by for my place but many probably will. I hope they have flood insurance.

Did I tell you about the old crop duster baw out in Greenbrier? He made out like a bandit on 12 acres with Toyota-Mazda. Multiple 7 figures. Might even have been 8, I'm not entirely sure.

I've known him my entire life. Graduated with his son.

I often wonder why they don’t hold more back up here when I see how flooded below the dam gets but the issue is I don’t see how high the water gets up towards Florence. The pics in this thread alone show the water up that direction is pushing things as it is.

I'm 48 and I've never seen the water cross Savannah Hwy. If we get a lot tomorrow night they'll open it up to keep Wilson from flooding on the Colbert side(lots of money over there) plus the mouth of Wilson(Robins money)

Sucks for those south of Pickwick but money talks.

I'm 35 and have absolutely seen flood waters outside of McFarland Park cover Savannah Hwy. I was eating wings and a calzone from Stephanos at the time but still.

No you haven't

I'm not talking about the underpass for 72 that closes two-three times a year.

Across from McFarland? Never.

ETA: Stephanos hasn't been in downtown Florence in 20 years.

I've been here 47 years myself and can't say I can remember seeing it across Savannah Hwy either. But I can remember dead fish in the dugouts at McFarland when I played little league there.

As far as fishing last year was the worst year we have had fishing in years and I think the flood contributed a lot to that. Guys at Perkins were saying it washed the bottom of Pickwick lake clean. Shell beds, everything. I fish From Brush Creek to Bruton mostly and we struggled all summer. Don't think we had a fish over 5 lbs after dark all year and that's rare.

So much good stuff gone that folks cant appreciate anymore. Stephanos was the shite. The original Craigs Cafe. The Lunchbox (where subway is). The river covering the highway. Culpeppers bakery downtown. Dirty mags at Anderson's bookstore.
