So I should ignore the ticket and when in NOLA (2-3 times a month, only street park for Saints games) partially cover my plate so the metro parking van doesn't boot me and forget about the ticket?

If you decide to pay it, have some back/forth costly fun with them.

A - Tell them you want to see the paper work on all past calibrations of the gun.

After you get that paperwork, and assuming it has been properly calibrated, then

B - ask for a payment plan over a two year period of time. It will cost them out the arse to process multiple payments (and make sure you are late on each one so they have to spend $$ on collection calls).

I got one for running a red light on Canal.

They mailed me a picture of my car and the red light showing red.

I paid the stupid thing online.

I thought running red lights in New Orleans was just part of the deal there.

I have several and had a similar thought... I did some research and found out that there's nothing they can do to compel you pay. Their threats are without any teeth.

I don't even think they can hit your credit report... The only thing you'd have to worry about is if a meter maid or that fricking van catches your car parked in which case you'll have to pay all the fines, plus the boot removal fee... A buddy got caught for $1,400... So I KNOW that's a thing.

But I've heard about disputing it on your credit report and as their was no agreement to pay it, they'll be forced to remove it.

They DEFINITELY pray on people's good nature and fear of penalty. Problem is, they don't come out and say it will be put into collection and they really can't do anything but inform the city which people have outstanding tickets.

Just don't park on the public streets until they're resolved... I'm at the point now, where I'm at like $500.... So I'll be getting NY plates again and saving on car insurance like I should have done from the beginning.

PAY IT!
