So let me gets this straight, less qualified candidates got promoted in an effort to advance diversity in a City where they are the majority.

Say that out loud to yourself. Yep, still doesn’t make sense.

It has nothing to do with test scores, LA civil service code is about SENIORITY. As long as the promotions were given based off time, test scores mean nothing but PASS/FAIL.

Why didn’t you quote the real meat of the story?

What meat? Does it matter what group was discriminated against?

Practices were changed then abused

New Orleans is not under state civil service. They have their own. Test scores did matter until recently. Now they, along with seniority, mean nothing.

Personnel Director Lisa Hudson said there were signs that McConnell engaged in “reverse discrimination” by picking lower-ranked black firefighters before higher-ranked white ones. "Almost half of the African-American candidates were promoted — compared to a little more than a quarter of the white candidates. ... It seems likely that race may have been a factor in who received a promotion,” she said. Hudson said she suspected that “reverse discrimination” may have been at play with regard to gender as well. The two women who applied to become captains were both promoted, she said.

Been going on at Monroe PD and Fire for years.

The terms "reverse discrimination" or "reverse racism" are terrible. There is no such thing. There is only racism/discrimination. The definition of racism/discrimination doesn't specify a race.

The term "reverse racism" was coined by people, with an agenda, trying to change the definition of racism to support their cause.

shite, they don't even disguise it there: paperwork for contracts have checkboxes for minorities at the top of the damn page.
