sure it is

Determinism is definitely old school traditional thought. Most are raised on "it's meant to be" kind of thinking.

I've moved beyond it. I understand influences are not controlling if I don't allow it

There’s no “gaining” involved. Everyone already possesses it. Many just choose not to exercise it.

Wrong. That would be fatalism. Not the same thing.

No, you discover it

Unless you're bound by traditional determinist thinking.

so neither you nor Roger have answered this question

what has allowed y'all to reach this level of self awareness? what has allowed y'all to go beyond what the average person does?

A lot of introspection

I've answered it before

but that isn't an answer because it doesn't answer what allows you to have that introspection over others

Sure it does. You've made up your mind and will not allow new thoughts and ideas to foster because you're bound to precdeterminist beliefs.

You've already decided the future is predetermined and you're bound to your circumstances

that isn't determinism at all though

not even close

again...focusing on the outcomes and not the drivers

your perspective on this is completely backwards

I don't know why you keep trying to push this because I'm most certainly not

Are you not saying that external forces determine outcome over the will?

I'm saying that a whole host of things determine your decisions

and if you allowed yourself to answer honestly, I'm certain you would agree

Rog, I gotta go

but I'm certain we will do this again someday, whether of our own free will or not

I believe it is a conscious willingness to change. That willingness can be rooted in various base urges.

As Rodger said, it is enacted through introspection.
