Probably more true today than ever before. I will never start a physical altercation, and will try to walk away from confrontation, but the moment someone gets physical I will shoot first if at all possible. Any blow to the head carries the risk of being life altering or fatal, at my age I am not going to risk it.

You sound like a chode. If someone confronts me for a stupid reason and wants to fight and I have a gun? Yeah I’m using it because Texas law allows me to protect myself from unlawful use of force.

I remember seeing a story a while back about a guy facing a murder charge from a fist fight because the guy he knocked out ending up slamming his head on the concrete when he fell and died from the injuries.
Only thing that keeps this incident from being clear cut self defense is that shooter initially didnt have a gun and went outside to retrieve one first because prosecutor could argue he had an opportunity to escape the situation.

I’m not sure about this legally.
The one thing I’m sure about is that if you pull a handgun on someone close enough to punch you, you are an idiot. If you are gonna skin that smoke wagon, at least do it before the attacker closes space. Otherwise, you just made the risk to your life much higher than taking a beat down.

Regardless the law- id have a helluva a hard time letting a guy off with self defense if he was able to leave and get a gun but didn’t call police

I think you have this whole self-defense and right to keep and bear arms thing confused. Most people own guns BECAUSE they want to protect themselves from the very thing you just described.
