re: No Christmas Bonus. 6% Raise

I'm getting a 9-10% bonus, but most likely less than 1% for a raise (not even sure you can call that COLA
).
6% pay increase is nothing to sneeze at, especially if you work at a company that doesn't really do merit increases (sounds like you do)

Eh. Could have been worse.
If you would prefer a one time bonus over a long-term raise, then you probably don't deserve to work at this company.

I know it's a complicated system, but it really amazes me how many people don't even have a basic idea of how the system works.
My favorite is "I don't want to go up another tax bracket"

Good thing you got that raise, you're gonna need it to pay for that private school education.

Blame the school system. In my opinion, personal finance is the most important life tool to master. Yet, we don't even touch it in school.

Agree 100%.
Some private schools here, including the one my kids will go to, teach accounting.

Good for them. I went to a private school as well. Full of doctors and lawyers kids. But the people teaching us were $35,000 a year dumbasses. I had a lot of catching up to do in college and first few years after.
Teach them young.

My job is personal finance. My kids will be ahead of the game anyways. Makes it hard to deal with clients when they think they know tax law better than I do though

I've been waiting for 3 months to see what my raise is. I'm hoping the longer they wait the higher it will be.
from what I've seen....it's usually the opposite

I would rather a 6% increase than a crappy christmas bonus.
6% is a solid increase, especially if you're making good money.
