Liz - that area is far worse now than it was when I was a kid and it wasn't great then. I grew up off of Hooper in Central so I know NBR fairly well. I remember going to Howards on Airline and Plank, bowling at Metro Bowl and lunch at Piccadilly in Delmont Village.

Those days are long gone.

Delmont Village.

Was a pallbearer for my uncle's funeral at St. Gerard (not a lot of men in my family) a cpl of months ago. The church is right across the street from Tony's. I couldn't believe how awful NBR looked. Like a 3rd world country and it was bad when I left in 1996.

I know where it is. I drove from Government down N22nd/Plank to Tony's a few months ago. It looks like Somalia. It's sad.

And that's generally a safe, wholesome area.

It's been creeping down Hooper Rd for years too. Once decent neighborhoods like Sharon Hills and Comite Estates are gone.

Did you go to Montichello (sp?) to see Christmas lights? Remember when Exxon did lights at the Capital?

Everyone did. It was awesome. I went about 10-12 years ago and there might have 3 houses with lights.

It was a tradition. That and bonfires on the levee and a midnight Latin Mass. Goddammit I am not a sentimental person!

Nightly Baton Rouge Shooting Thread - May 27 Edition

Starting these threads until all the facts come out is racist

The shooting Friday night was 100% purely accidental, that kid didn’t mean to shoot his Uncle in the head. The gun just “went off” & he ran because he was so scared.

I’m sure this one was unintentional as well...

Here’s the recently roped off crime scene on South Afton Street. Police said there were reports of shots fired here before two people showed up at a hospital with gunshot wounds. Neighbors said a vehicle rammed a parked truck while fleeing the scene.

Hopefully they bring it to Owen's. That'll give BRPD a few months to locate it while Owen's dicks over the owner.
