Exactly....people live there, spend money there, attend events there, book hotels there, eat there then move away and spend their money other places and apologists say they don't care. Me not living there is a choice I made when I moved away and one I did so happily and have not regretted once. There has not been once visit to the city (as recently as last week) that my wife nor I have regretted our decision to move away.

NOLA apologists have such an extreme issue with people not sharing their view and affinity for the city they try to diminish the opinion and stance for anyone who doesn't agree.
They'll tell you your opinion doesn't matter.
They'll blame it on COVID.
They'll say however much money you've spent there is irrelevant.
They'll say you're not a resident so your opinion doesn't count.
They'll threaten to Dox you on a message board.
They'll blame crimes on victims.
They do and say anything to discredit those who have a differing opinion on a city they love simply because people don't share the love.
Like saying "yeah, the city has crime and safety issues that I think are valid and understand why people would want to stay away" is so hard. Instead, they would rather pretend the issues aren't real or somehow a misunderstanding.

What am I insecure about?
So long as my criticisms are going to be tried to diminished I think that defending my take in the forum those opinions are shared is a normal and logical response.
Would it make me more secure to just state my take, let it be responded to, discredited, threatened to be doxed, have lies about my personal life shared on here and just not reply?

Im very open to it...let's talk about it and / or debate it. Or don't.
But just posting memes and suggesting I am the one not open to a discussion or debate is silly. Point out the flaws without just saying "that's wrong" or "that really doesnt matter". What I am saying is echoed by people here, on social media, on travel forums, on TripAdvisor and Yelp.
I am not saying everyone does or should share my opinion only that it exists well beyond just me or my circle and is contributing to a reduction on travel and tourism to the city. No matter who or how many people says it here the reaction is always the same.
