It has become pitiful in the US with people using slang so much that when someone uses a word properly some others are confused or offended because they don’t recognize the words or know their meaning. The prime example , from years ago, would have to be the guy who was forced to resign his position and caught all kinds of hell from the media and idiots because he used the word niggerdly in a proper and correct context but the idiots freaked out.

I will edit in a moment to add link when I find it again lol

Edit:
Link: Victim of sophisticated vocabulary

I am not that old but have never heard of these words...what do they mean?

Also, calling it now; this is an OweO alter.

I was buying a jigger after the flood.

Cashier and the Asian lady behind me were clutching pearls, because we discovered it didn't have a tag, "it was in housewares, should be under jiggers."

Stunned

Scree- a long speech or a level coating on cement
Dossier- a collection of documents about a person, subject or event.
Trope: use of a word metaphorically. Ex. He used the two America’s trope to explain his stance

Full disclosure I recognized all of the words but had to look up definition of trope

"Closed minded" or "close minded".

The opposite of open minded was always "narrow minded" till this goofy terminology was shat out into the lexicon.

Trope comes from the Middle Ages,

Dossier is easily early 19th century

Screed is 18th century

new to you doesn't mean new to the English language

a few years ago, when espn decided that RBIs was improper, so they changed it to RBI (plural) not realising it really should be RsBI.

and yeah, 'on fleek' is a good 1!!!

and no, this is not an OweO alter, but yes, that was the worst moniker you could have hit me with.

also, moniker.
