Their job is to deliver appliances right? In other words, they are getting paid for that specific job? I'd say no. Do you tip the meter readers? But if they do a great job and went above and beyond... If you want to give them a little something then go for it.

I gave the guys an extra 20. They had to do a little more work than standard though.

They already get extra money from the customer if they order an install with the delivery.

No, it's their job and unlike food delivery, tip income is not factored into their wages.
I delivered food in college. We made minimum wage before tips plus a dollar for each delivery. So, that's not true for everywhere. I've waited tables and delivered food. I have no idea why people associate what I make with what I should be tipped.
I, as a consumer should not have to do my research on everyone that does a service for me to see if they make enough money, and if they don't should I tip them. In that capacity it has gotten out of hand.
I'm not anti tipping, just think it's stupid to argue about what the waiter gets paid. We do it because it is a social norm. The waiter gets paid the way they do because the owner knows the social norm exists (but that pay is none of my business). Therefore someone asking the question about whether it is a social norm to tip for a service they are not familiar with is a valid question.

Delivery from where? Best Buy? If so, F* NO! Believe me, you'll regret tipping them and do not let them leave until the job is done 100%. Watch how lazy their wiring and connections are behind the washer/dryer.

Do people here make ANY decisions on their own?
Posted on 1/10/17 at 7:48 am to CorkSoaker
Depends what they do...
I delivered furniture for 10 years and didn't expect a tip for deliveries. Now, if were moving things for you or you wanted us to take things to the road, then yea please tip.
And another thing, most customers would assume delivery "fees" was for us. It's not.
