Which is what you pay more for it up front so it's a wash, yes? Except it burns more gas and he doesn't "need" a 4x4 so it will cost more to operate, he'll lose money.

4Runner is basically a Tacoma with a back half. Just get that if you'll never use the bed. It's a much better daily driver imo.

That’s kind of what I am thinking - Tacoma rear leaf springs with drum brakes 4Runner independent rear suspension and rear disc brakes, 4 Runner is built in Japan same factory as Lexus SUVs. Tacoma built in Texass.

I'll never understand this. I HATE having to keep my foot on the brake when I'm stopped. Just seems unnatural.

Well, you're going to have your foot on the brake and/or clutch. I'll take all of the other things that the automatic eliminates me doing.

You shouldn’t buy a truck that isn’t 4-wheel drive

I bought a 2017 4Runner 4X4 premium and I love it. I got the third row option and it was worth it.

If you do buy, fly up north to buy your ride. Search car gurus.com for the best deal on the exact vehicle you want. Call and get them to knock the price of your ticket off. I saved about 4K off the best price I could get locally.

Don’t get 2016+ tacoma. The new engine is shite. Lots of problems and no power.

Can’t go wrong with 4Runner.

They are virtually the same except one has a bed, the other has more seat room and storage. How often do you plan on using the bed of the truck? Not much, go 4runner

4Runner has solid rear axle. Thought Tacoma was built in Mexico or California? I know Tundras are Texas

Hard to beat...I have a 2006 with 177,000 miles bought new and have NEVER had a problem. Other than loose soil, it handles most of my hauling/towing needs.

Yes sir. It was a reason for my choice. I can pack a family of four and a medium dog for trips. Got sick of 11 mpg on powerstroke to see family a few hours away.

I flew to Kalamazoo, MI to get mine. While filling out the paperwork the guy said "why did you come all the way up here to buy". I said "price alone". He said "you know why we're cheaper, it's because we order directly from the factory. All the cars on the gulf coast get their cars from a distributor that tacks about 2k on the price before it ever shows up to the dealership". This was consistent with what I was seeing. I got the premium 4x4 for 34k I think.

Those guys even paid for the gas to get me home. I was out of the dealership in 30 minutes.
