Rouses is slowly becoming one of the most overrated things our state has.

You take them for granted until you step foot back in a Winn Dixie

Not really - it’s the only decent grocery store chain that has the balls to do anything

Champagnes. Literally has pretty much everything rouses has without the attitude or prices.

Rouses to me is just a weird cult. Like a bizzaro trader joes. I actively avoid trader joes and whole foods as well.

I’m not even going to comment ... it’s nothing against Champagne’s

But let’s just say - not every place has a Champagne’s (or Dorignac’s or Calandro’s)

I grew up in that neighborhood. Freret Street had a lot to offer. Lourdes Church, my barber (Mr. Soprano), Bill Long's bakery, Canal Villere grocery, Bike Smith, Freret street hardware, Chinese laundry (don't remember the name), Frank's steak house, BNO bank. It went to shite in the late 70's early 80's.

Calandros is fricking god tier. Glad it's getting some respect.

That's one of the few things I enjoyed living in mid city.

Frank's steak house,

Loved Frank's. Also, Dunbar's.

Aren't you sort of saying, every place pretty much has ONE such store?

Took my aunt and uncle who left the city years ago to high hat. Uncle couldn’t believe where we were eating as he was mugged at that corner in the 80s. From a Jewish deli to the ghetto to a bustling restaurant. The urban circle of life.
