Nice. Felony destruction of government property over a deserved ticket.

Way to double down, scofflaw.

And LOL at somebody thinking switching plates would work. You gonna legally change your name, too?

This is the New Orleans city government. They’re not very bright.

can't believe people actually pay those tickets they receive in the mail.

Maybe because if you were caught breaking the law, you should pay the fine?

A private company owns the boots.

what do you carry in your car to cut the boot?

I'll flatten the tire using the valve stem, slide the boot off, inflate the tire, drive home, cut in half with an angle grinder, and return it to the place I found it.

Just looked up a WWL story about the City of New Orleans contracting with a new car boot vendor.

Do you smartass millennials know what a vendor is?

I think it is 350 or something if the boot is removed, whether it goes missing or not.

See the somewhat often around the city.

The vendor is the company the City contracts with to install and remove the boots.

To be fair, requiring coordination between multiple people and even marginal work sometimes is enough around here.

What I’m really curious about is the repayment source here... if I understood correct the City essentially let an outside company handle a lot of this and just kept a cut of the money. Is the city paying back full tickets while the company keeps cash?

If so, might go far in explaining why some politicians ignored the obvious issues with this.

I know someone on his third license plate. Never has had a problem even when the scanner people hit others on his block.

The booting program is administered through ACS, the vendor that also runs the city’s traffic-camera program. The ACS contract expired earlier this year but the city is retaining ACS on a month-to-month basis as it considers bids from eight booting businesses.

Under the Paylock system used by ACS, a motorist who gets booted can call an 800-number listed on the boot, pay the outstanding tickets and attendant fees, and the boot is released. The scofflaw then is required to return the boot to ACS.

I believe you are correct. Then it's destruction of private property and might still be destruction of govt property depending on your state's laws relating to contracting with private vendors performing govt duties.

HTH, scofflaw.

My wife got a camera ticket in BR last week. 0% chance we are paying it. They have no proof who was driving. We've had maybe 4-5 of them and haven't paid a single one.

Do you throw parking tickets in the trash? They can't prove the car owner was driving the car. Herp derp.

Not sure. I've never gotten a parking ticket. I'll let you know when I do.
