In most vehicles that would be way more expensive than the ticket unless you owed $400-500 or more

Do you throw parking tickets in the trash? They can't prove the car owner was driving the car. Herp derp.

A moving violation is on the driver. Herp derp.

I loved when they put those speeding vans on I-12 in LP several years ago and the LP baws kept shooting them up. Eventually the company pulled out of LA.

Problem is....there is no real way to collect a judgment from a city. In order to pay, they gave to agree to pay. You cant seize busses, or garnish the mayor's wages. A judgment might affect their bond rating...but that is about it. Sucks, but that is the truth. They might pay $200 a year if they feel generous. Our fricked up legal system folks.

A parking ticket issued to an unoccupied vehicle is a moving violation that goes to the driver?

WTF?

These are civil violations in Louisiana, correct? That's why both a camera violation and a parking ticket or running through a toll booth go to the car's registered owner.

And if you are idiotic enough to engage in criminal activity (cutting off the boot) over an offense on the level of a parking ticket, then you are a sick SOB.

Ain't you ever seen Cool Hand Luke, baw? He was cutting off parking meters and ended up dead as a Mississippi prisoner.

The city doesn't pay these judgments. It will go unpaid.

It's based in a technicality (wrong department involved).

In Texas, there is a movement for invalidation because only like 2 of the 33 municipalities did the legally required traffic study required before going to photo enforcement.

Now those reasons to ditch it all, I can agree with. They must play by their own rules.

If I put a boot on your car for not paying me for lunch is it illegal to take it off?

It isn't criminally illegal. It is like not paying your blockbuster account. Only you agreed to a contract with Blockbuster and you didn't with this company. So they have no basis for charging you.
