You will not persuade me they are "southerners" that voted for Obama twice. Look at the electoral map. Their demographics have changed considerably since 2004.

I've lived in VA and MD. NOVA does not represent the south. It's more like a suburb of the Northeast, with all the transplants from New Jersey and such. Southern VA is clearly still the south. The simple solution is to move the Mason-Dixon line to somewhere just south of D.C.

neither is South Florida
There are plenty of areas within the South that are different, it doesn't mean they aren't part of the South

As someone who is from Virginia, this statement is very true. Northern Va is where yankee douchebaggery (is that a word?) begins. Norfolk area is all navy and rednecks. BTW all the festivals at waterside suck nowadays.
