It's a necessary evil. Sometimes you don't have the time to sit down and fully enjoy New Orleans' delicacies.

No it isn't. you just have to be willing to get out of the car, use your hip appendages, and go inside to pick it up.

These idiots don't understand the trickle effect. Say I make $15/hour doing manual labor. I am now going to quit and work at McDonalds for a less physically demanding job in the air condition. Meanwhile, the boss of my old job who barely gets by as is is forced to raise his staff's rate. This causes the boss's business to go under.

surely aren't going to absorb these costs.

Exactly! Are we prepared to pay for this and the answer is no. Also, these people don't realize that they won't have a job until the market adjusts. Say a skilled worker is making $15/hr now and they raise the rate for flipping burgers. Why will that skilled worker do the harder job for the same pay? He'll go flip burgers. These restaurants won't hire the crappy employees that are there now and take the guy who can work hard. Something along those lines will happen for awhile.

This is so dumb. Assuming an airman basic works 40 hours a week, their pay averages out to 9.18 an hour

When I got married 16 years ago, my husband brought home around $1k a month. And he was working much harder than anyone at mcdonalds

If they start making $15/hr, I will never buy anything at one of these places again. Who do these ppl think will pay in the long run for a 50% increase in pay? BK, Wendy's, McD's, etc surely aren't going to absorb these costs

Yep the old lazy thinking of pay us more and we will work more honestly doesn't hold water, that isn't how this country works and the sooner the excuse makers realize it and stop trying to change their world to their lazy views the sooner they will lead a productive life.

Raising Canes & Chik-Fil-A hire happy productive people, even Jack N The Box has started changing personel with happier more productive employees.

Some LPNs don't make that and CNAs definitely don't

And they both went to school

Good thing I never go to those places. Only get chick fil a ~twice a month and the service is so much better.

Well he managed to support us. I didn't work until I left him. So these people are being pretty ridiculous

Are you including all the tax free entitlements like BAH & BAS?

It was the exit before downtown in Beaumont, I believe. I honestly thought I had left Beaumont because I passed those 2-3 busy exits with all the places, but after this one was "Downtown" so I guess I was still in Beaumont.

Refresh my memory on the acronyms

Shopping on base was a little cheaper saving tax and we got a small housing allowance that didn't cover our entire rent if that answers your question. These people are still getting government handouts making minimum wage

Are you saying FF employees aren't getting welfare of some sort?

BAH=Housing allowance. An E-1 with dependents in NO is $969/month

BAS=Food. About $350/month

I don't believe I even remotely said that. In fact, I never commented on that at all. I personally would fire all the people who decided to "strike".

They qualify for Medicaid, food stamps/wic and section 8/HUD

ZZ, I don't remember all that. But including those, an airman would make $17/hour. Do you honestly think someone pressing buttons on a register is earning almost that of an airplane engine repairman?
