So why don't they demo it?

Like I said, I'm not sure if it's official, but it is considered a landmark, at least by the owner, and all of the design options involved incorporating the dock.

That dock is already under construction

That dock was one of my favorite places to photograph. I've taken many Senior photos on that dock. A beautiful young lady against the backdrop of of all that graffiti or maybe the old gear house made for a terrific photo.

Also, a great backdrop of the Miss. River Bridge as well. I will miss the dock for that reason.

The hate for Baton Rouge is strong on TD, and I'm not sure why. People love to bitch about the city, call it a shite hole, etc. Yet, when somebody posts something positive, they get downvoted all to hell. The mayor and her lackeys may be idiots, but there are actually some people who are fighting to make BR a better place to live.

I agree wholeheartedly about gentrifying the Nicholson corridor between LSU and downtown. Hopefully, that will happen sooner than later.

I want to know on which future date will the Mississippi River actually have a reflection of the bridge like they are showing in that drawing.

If you still worked for DEQ you'd know these things.

Exactly. Idiots like the poster above you will say it's a waste, and dog the city for being a shithole in the same breath.

damn truth...if you spend enough time telling the world how shitty your home is, eventually everyone believes it.

Some buildings are starting to go up. I drove through today. Of course it looks more like a Comfort Inn right now than any of the renderings.

The renderings don't show the fancy law office building going up next to Pastime with the helicopter pad.

Hopefully it gentrifies the fricked out of the Presidents streets. That's prime real estate that is ruined by the trash that lives there.

Mayor Witch Broom and future city leaders will not allow that.

Probably because they know what will happen to the tax payer 's money. It will eventually be ran into the ground and go back to being a shite hole like the rest of BR due to the residents.

Baton Rouge is a vastly better city today than it was when I started at LSU.

I don't doubt what you say. Lucky for us, she can't stop private developers from buying the land. If BR improves during Broome's time in office, it will be in spite of her, not because of her.

The biggest, most critical improvements IMO are in flood protection and white collar job growth. A lot of things will fall into place if 3-4 more companies invest in Baton Rouge similar in scale to what IBM did and if home grown businesses such as Brown and Root grow.

You imply that the entire city is a shite hole, and that's simply not true. If you're referring to north BR, then I agree. That area is a lost cause until the people that live there decide to take some responsibility and do something about the crime. No new businesses will want to locate there until then.

where are they getting their funding for this project?

Phase One: $55 million in commitments from the partners (Louisiana Economic Development, the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, and East Baton Rouge Government) will fund three buildings for three tenants: The Water Institute of the Gulf, the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority, and LSU River Modeling Center.

10A already finished and occupied.

10B is the new physical model

TWIG is what is going up right now.

those three buildings are phase one

construction of an mixed use development not shown on the map- south of Oklahoma/west of Nicholson under construction and god damn if that thing isn't 2 feet off the shoulder in the south bound lane of Nicholson. some body is going to run into it before long...

If that is phase 1, then what is Phase 2?
